Charles Ede

Charles Ede was promoted to assistant surgeon in the Royal Navy on December 20, 1845. He served in this capacity on Captain Ommaney's ship, the HMS Assistance, on her search after Sir John Franklin. Ede contributed a total of 16 specimens to the scrapbook. Below is a painting done by Charles Ede of the grave of G.S. Malcolm. Ede also contributed a letter describing the death of Malcolm.

Griffiths Island, C. Ede, To Adam White F.L.S., Grave of G. S. Malcolm a.b. H.M.S.
Resolute who died of the effects of frostbite in the feet.
